from foot-to-foot, shoulder-to-shoulder
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀the body disperses
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀toward cafés and video games
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀and heavy bellies, every hour
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀the nights, dormant,
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀snores droning, slow and sedated
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀from the hollows of heedless men
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀and a Rabb of mercy
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀awaiting: have My servants forgotten?
into space less sacred
and the susurrus of revelation
to silence / only echoes of the song we sing:
we miss you, oh Ramaḍān.
